Some boxes will work better than others. The box we used had plastic
molded edges that fit nicely together. Boxes with cardboard edges will not work as well.
With the box closed, put a piece or red tape along one edge. This
should work like a hinge so the box opens sideways.
Lay box on batting and trace around the outside. Do this two times
and cut out both pieces. Lay box on the wrong side of the fabric and trace around. Remove
the box, and draw another line 1/4" around the outside of the line. Cut out on the
outer line. Do this again so you have two pieces. Cut two pieces of fleece 1" by
9" for the straps
Glue batting to the box top
and box bottom with a thin coat of tacky glue. Center fleece on top and glue in place,
folding edges around the lip of the box and hot gluing. On the side that will be the back,
glue straps to the inside of the box lip. See photo at right for positioning.
Glue pipe cleaners around the box lip on both sides to hide excess
glue and raw edges.
