"Hats 4 the Homeless" Community Service Pack
Kit includes assorted fleece pre-cut to size to make five quality fleece hats. Prints for both genders. Kit includes illustrated instructions to make five different types of hats that can be hand or machine sew by beginners. You will need your own needle and thread. Fabric scissors are helpful but not necessary as you may want to trim some of the fleece down in size or make different styles.

My Daisy girls and parents had a blast making these hats (with MAJOR help from an awesome mom who had a sewing machine - she did 75% of the work, if not more). We made the hats and donated them to another troop in Korea that was collecting clothes for an orphange near Seoul, Korea. The smallest hats are for premie babys, but I let each girl keep one of them to use on their baby doll to remind them of Girl Scouts and the good thing they had done to help the children in the orphanage.

For our junior girls Bronze award they are collecting coats, hats, gloves, scarfs for the homeless, so as a added part of project they made these hats. The girls had a great time making them, and for a few it was the first time they used a sewing machine. As a leader, the instructions could have been better, and I think that for the baby hats there needed to be a little more material to work with. But overall its a great pack and fit perfectly into our Bronze Award plans
