Pinch Pots
Kids really enjoy working with clay. We have a self-hardening red clay that gives a kiln-fired appearance.

You Need:

Instructions:
Roll a piece of clay into a ball about the size of a large plum. Clay will dry out and crack while you work with it so continually dip your fingers in water as you work. Push one thumb into the middle to begin shaping the pot. Add the other thumb to increase the size of the hole in the clay. Begin pinching with thumbs and fingers to thin out the walls of the bowl. Turn the bowl as you work to help make it more even. If clay cracks, smooth over cracks with wet fingers.

Gently flatten the bottom so the bowl will sit flat.
