"What is your favorite way of decorating Easter Eggs?"

My 12 year old daughter and I got out the food coloring and boiled up some eggs and started creating. Her dragon egg creation is the best eggs we've ever made. They actually look like there are flames shooting up the sides. You might also be interested in our color drop eggs, stained glass eggs or our tie dye eggs.

"Color crepe paper
hot water
small bowls or cups
cooking oil
cloth

Soak crepe paper in hot water in individual bowls or cups for each color. Add eggs and allow to sit in water until he desired color is achieved. Remove with slotted spoon and allow to dry. Polish with small amount of cooking oil and soft cloth."

"I do this one and they have really turned out pretty. I buy some of that spray on glue and then roll the eggs in glitter. I don't eat them though when I do this. I'm not real sure if you can or not?"

"I love to use colored sand! Basically, I take glue and rub it onto the egg with a popsicle stick. Then, I sprinkle colored sand onto that part of the egg (I usually do colored stripes) Once that dries, I do it again with another color. It really makes the eggs beautiful and I love the texture!"

"I have used wrapping paper to decorate Easter eggs before. Simply make a solution that is one part Elmer's glue and two parts water. Cut a square of wrapping paper that is big enough to cover the egg, and immerse it in the water/glue solution. when the paper is completely soaked, pull it out and wring it slightly, crinkling the paper before you apply it to the egg. Let it dry.

The glue will only slightly mute the color of the wrapping paper and it will leave a textured look on the outside of the egg which can be really nice when you use the eggs as part of a centerpiece.

As an added bonus, the rough texture of the eggs do not slip out of little hands so easily when you use them for an Easter egg hunt.

"You can put rubber bands around the eggs going in different directions before you dye them. leaves white stripes. If you take the bands off and dye another color (for example start with yellow, take the band off and dye blue...You would have a green egg with blue stripes.

You can also color with a white crayon before dyeing to make a resist.

Make dragon eggs. They breath fire!

"For older kids, blow out the eggs and decoupage pretty little pieces cut out for spring gift wrap. If the kids a younger, you can probably use plastic eggs. Has anyone ever decoupaged on plastic?".

Green--spinach leaves
Blue-- canned blueberries

Turn off the flame and let eggs sit overnight in the colored water.

"paint right on the egg shell with food coloring. The possibilities are endless. use a brush or sponge, or splatter. You can still eat the eggs then.".

"My Favorite is Oil and Vinegar Eggs. You take 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, 1 tablespoon white vinegar, 1 tablespoon food coloring in a coffee mug. Add a little water as possible like 1/2 cup. It just needs to cover the egg. Swirl the mixture quickly and dunk the egg in and out. It comes out marbled. You can redip in another color when dry."
--FannyPack

"Color eggs then make a mixture of diluted food coloring and a tablespoon of white vinegar. Put in a spray bottle and spray the eggs. They come out great!"

"We love to make egg people. Die the eggs crazy colors. You glue on wiggle eyes. Make yarn hair and use some fabric scraps for clothes."

"Color on the Easter eggs with wax crayons before placing in the dye.
The wax will resist the dye and your picture will show through."

--Robin

"You can also make your own decals with waterslip decal paper in your printer. You just print graphics (small ones or they will distort when you wrap them around an egg) and spray with a coat of clear krylon to keep the ink from running. they come in clear and white. I got mine from Beldecal.com of course, you can use them on LOTS of things besides eggs!"
--Valerie

"Drizzle rubber cement over eggs. Let dry and color. Peel off and repeat with additional colors."
