"My kid
love puppets. Does anyone have some unique ideas for making puppets?"
Kids do love puppets and making them is more than half
the fun. With a little imagination, just about anything can be made into a puppet. We were
sent ideas for spoons, gloves, even fly swatters. One of my favorite ideas comes from Linda of Alabama who makes frog puppets from pot holders.
We also made some puppets for those ever popular perler
beads the kids love. In fact, you can add a craft stick to just about anything to make
it into a puppet. Don't forget the nice puppets you can make out of our paper doll "Friends".
Here's some more ideas sent in for puppets from our visitors:

Yo-Yo Puff Marionettes
"Cut a several circles out of fabric. Make one a little bigger for the head. Turn
under the edges and sew with a long gathering stitch. Gather and tie off. Stuff with
cotton. Run a string through several of these going through the opening and straight
through. The more you use, the bigger your puppet will be. For the legs, tie about 2 feet
of braided yarn around the center of your string of yo-yo puffs -- leaving the ends even.
For the feet, poke a hole in four spray paint caps. Run your yarn through and tie it off.
Tie together two small dowel rods and tie them together to form a cross. Tie a
thread to the head and tail and to one of the dowel rods. To the other dowel rod, tie a
string between them and the feet. It takes a little practice but it won't be long before
you have them walking and eating and everything else."
