Troop Number Macramé
Pin
Our macramé troop number pin
was designed especially for older scouts who prefer more sophisticated SWAPs.
You Need:
Our project prepack makes 30 pins.
Instructions:
Cut a 10" length of both silver and gold cord. Cut a
14" length of both silver and gold cord. Gather all four strands together lining up
one set of ends. Tie the strands together as close as possible to that end. Pull tightly.
Use masking tape and tape securely. Arrange cords so the
two shorter cords are in the middle. These will be your holding cords. Tie a square knot
(see illustrated directions below.)
Slide a pony bead on the middle holding cords. Push the
bead up close to the knot. Use the outer cords to tie the first half of another square
knot snugly up under the bead. Slide on the first number bead on the middle holding cords.
Tie the second half of the square knot. Continue with beads and knots until you have
completed your troop number and finished with a pony bead.
Finish with an overhand knot. Trim cord ends. Put some
tacky glue on all the cord ends to keep them fraying. Let dry. Trim again if necessary.
Hot glue on the a pin on the back.
