Make a Piggy
Bank
You can make this piggy bank with paper mache or for a sturdier bank, use
our
Rigid Wrap.
You Need:
- Large Balloon
- Disposable Plastic Bowl
- Masking Tape
- Small Disposable Bathroom Cups
- Cardboard Scraps
- 30' of Rigid Wrap
- Scissors
- Paint and Brush
- Scrapbook Paper (optional)
- Decoupage Solution (optional)
- Two 35mm Wiggle Eyes
- Pink Pipe Cleaner
- Vinyl Tape
- Low Temp Glue Gun
- Serrated Knife (or matte knife) and Adult
Instructions:
Blow up a large balloon. Tie off. Turn the balloon sideways. The tail will be the end with the knot. Tape four small bathroom cups to the bottom of the balloon for feet. Cut a fifth cup down to 1". Tape to the front for a snout. Cut two triangles for ears. Tape them in place for ears.
Fill a plastic bowl with water. Cut 1-1/2" strips of Rigid Wrap. Dip a strip into the water and lay down on the balloon smoothing with extra water on your fingers. Continue dipping, laying and smoothing until you have covered the entire shape at least twice. Make sure the joints at the feet, ears and snout are secure. Let dry about 1 hour. Ask an adult to cut a 1-1/2" hole in the bottom and a slit in the top. This will pop the balloon which you can ease out the bottom hole. Let dry thoroughly (probably overnight). Paint. Let Dry. You can also add a decorative decoupage finish. We cut flowers out of scrapbook paper. And decoupaged them the piggy. Applying an overall coat of decoupage for a glossy finishes. Glue on wiggle eyes.
