...or a scout leader with a troop who would like to help?

Either way, this program is for you.

SOS means Support Our Scouts

Here's how it works:

If you know of a financially less-fortunate troop, tell us about them by filling in the assistance application here. Scout leaders, SUMs, council reps, parents or even the girls can apply. We will need the leader's name, phone and address and the local council's name and phone number to verify. You'll be asked to tell us a little about the troop and tell us what kind of craft supplies you would like.

If you have a troop who would like to help, purchase our SOS pin kit for $8.99. The kit includes supplies to make 30 pins for SWAPping and includes tags that tell about the program. You can send the SWAPs into our SWAP sensation program or SWAP them as however you want. The cost of this kit includes a $4 profit which will be set aside by MakingFriends.com. As the fund builds we will use the proceeds to send craft supplies to troops in need.

We will post the details about the troop donations as the program progresses so you can see how you helped your sister scouts.

Why is MakingFriends
doing this?

We regularly get emails from troop leaders asking for craft donations. We help out often but since we are a small, family-run business, we have to limit the number of troops we can respond to. This year, my Junior troop showed an interest in sponsoring a less-advantaged troop here on Long Island. We made a small purchase from our troop funds and donated the supplies. My girls were thrilled and, of course, so was our sister troop!

This website reaches thousands of leaders. As a group, we have a great deal of purchasing power and will be able to help out many, many girls who are less fortunate than our own.
