Who would think old toothbrushes would make such pretty bracelets! Thanks go to Katherine of Kings Park for this kewl idea.

You need:

  • Inexpensive, translucent toothbrushes
  • Pot of Boiling Water
  • Oven Mitts
  • Pliers
  • Tongs
  • Cup or Glass to Bend the Toothbrush Around
  • Adult for Supervision

Instructions:

Some toothbrushes will work better than others. We got the best results from store brand supermarket toothbrushes. Put toothbrush in a pot of boiling water for about two minutes. Remove with tongs. Pull bristles out with pliers, holding the toothbrush with an oven mitt. If bristles do not pull out easily, place the toothbrush back in the pot for another two minutes.

After bristles are removed, place toothbrush back in the boiling water for two minutes. Remove with tongs. Begin bending toothbrush while holding it with oven mitts. Place the toothbrush back in the boiling water as needed to get the right shape and fit. You may want to bend it around a cup or glass. Let cool completely when finished.
