We gently removed the lace from a Valentine candy box to make this two-piece outfit. You can also use the lace from old clothes, curtains, or linens. Ages 7 and up.

You need:

  • 2' of 2" Lace (or adapt for the lace you have. If using sheer lace, try using 2 or 3 layers, if using narrower lace use extra tiers, as explained below)
  • Low Temp Glue Gun or Tacky Glue & Clothes Pins
  • Velcro, Snaps, Cord, or Bead & Elastic

Instructions:

Cut a piece of lace to fit around Barbie's torso with a 1/4" overlap. Attach snaps, Velcro, cord or a bead and elastic to hold in place on the doll for a top.

Cut another piece to fit around her waist and hips with overlap. (Barbie's hips are wide so make sure the piece you cut will go around her hips also.) Glue a 3rd piece around bottom edge of this piece to make a double tier skirt. If using tacky glue, use clothes pins to hold in place until dry. Form this double piece into a circle and glue the ends of the bottom tier together. Attach a snap, Velcro, cord or a bead and elastic to top of skirt.
