Spool Ornament
Patterns
Use wooden beads and miniature spools to make quaint holiday ornaments or use these patterns with your choice of beads for a totally different look. Try translucent pony beads, tribeads or faceted beads on metallic pipe cleaners for ornaments that kids will love to make and give this holiday!

For Wreath, Tree and Candy Cane You Need:
--19 Wooden Spools -- 1/2" Diameter
--19 Red Wooden Beads -- 3/8" Diameter
--Green & Red 1/4" Raffia or Ribbon
--Heavy Gauge Floral Wire
--Wire cutters
--Needle Nose Pliers
--Tacky Glue

General Instructions:
Cut 19 pieces of Green raffia or ribbon to 6". Completely wrap one piece around each spool. Glue end to hold into place.

Instructions for Wreath:
Beginning with a spool, alternate lacing beads and spools on to an 18" piece of red raffia or ribbon. Lace again through the first spool to form a circle. Tie lace into a double knot and bow.

Instructions for Tree:
Beginning with a bead, alternate lacing beads and spools on to an 18" piece of red raffia or ribbon. Lace again through the first bead in the opposite direction. Tie lace into a double knot and bow. Cut a piece of wire for each side of the tree. Make it slightly larger and bend ends to hold in place.

Instructions for Candy Cane:
Beginning with a bead, alternate lacing beads and spools on a piece of floral wire bent into the shape of a candy cane. Bend ends to hold beads and spools in place. Lace a piece of red raffia or ribbon through the top spool. Tie lace into a double knot and bow.
