Spanish Flamenco Costume

No-sew costume to make for your international event. Instructions for fan is here.

You need:

• Red Visor
• Black Tulle
• Red and Pink Tissue Paper
• Pipe Cleaner
• Scissors
• Tacky Glue
• Low Temp Glue Gun
• Fan
• 1.5 Yards of 60″ Fabric (will make two skirts)

Instructions:

To make tissue paper flowers: Cut 3 pieces pieces of tissue paper 4″ x 12″. Stack the 3 pieces together and make 1/2″ accordian folds down the stack. Twist a 4″ piece of tissue paper around the middle of the folded stack. Gently pull apart the layers shaping into a flower. Make 1 flower for the headpiece and for the the neck.

To make headpiece: For this project, visor is worn facing forward on top of the head (see photo.) Cut four 6″ pieces of tulle. Bunch one end together and twist a 4″ piece of pipe cleaner around the bunch. Hot glue it two the visor. Glue on a flower as shown. Cut three 1 yard pieces of tulle. Place loosely around the neck or shoulders and twist on one of the tissue paper flowers’ pipe cleaners around it to hold in place.

To make no-sew skirt: Cut fabric in half the long way.

  

Beginning at one end, tuck the edge of the fabric into the waistband of leggings. Fold a pleat in the fabric and tuck the next section in the waistband. Continue pleating and tucking all around the waist. (images 1 – 3 above)

Cut a contrasting piece of fabric 6″ wide to fit around your waist. Make little snips every inch on both ends 1/2″ from the edge. Use the final shoe lace to lace it closed around your waist.
